2018 MICE Destination Marketing Contest

Information Brochure

 

The 2018 MICE Destination Marketing Contest provides a unique opportunity for younger generations worldwide to practice and exercise innovative ideas to the MICE industry. Hosted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs Bureau of Foreign Trade, Taiwan and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (also known as TAITRA), the MICE Destination Marketing Contest combines both Marketing Presentation and Booth Marketing competition. The students are encouraged to use their MICE industry knowledge, skills and creativity to market their cities.

 

(1) Date: Sep. 19-21, 2018

(2) Venue: Taipei International Convention Center, Taiwan

(3) Theme: Bidding Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) annual summit

(4) Registration Date: Before 2018/6/31

(5) Registration Fee: 700 USD/team. Paid only when the registration is approved.

 

Eligible Participants:

(1)    2 to 6 college students + 1 team leader (teacher)

*Multidisciplinary collaboration is encouraged.

(2)    2 participating teams per country/area. If more than 2 teams registered in one country/area, we will evaluate according to the following standard to select the approved teams:

Application Process:

Participating teams should submit the registration form (as attached) and the following documents to the designated email address (yin@taitra.org.tw), or by hard copy to the following address: Room 2B22, No. 5, Section 5, Xinyi Road, Xinyi District, Taipei City before 2018/6/31:

  1. List of team members and team leader (Name and contact info of each member)
  2. Introduction of your destination city
  3. History records of attendance to International MICE contest
  4. History records of attendance to this contest

 

Notice of Approval:

The Registration results will be announced on 2018/ 7/ 10. The Approved team should submit the registration fee before 2018/7/ 10 to finish the Application process.

 

Contest Program:

(1) Marketing Presentation Contest

(2) Exhibition Contest

Each team should conduct a 5 minute English presentation and 2 minute Q & A session.

 

Each team should exhibit your own Marketing plan to bid for the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) annual summit.

 

*TAITRA will subsidize each team based on incurred cost with a ceiling of NT$12,000, for decoration and marketing, as well as offer two free booths (3m x 2m each), the total dimension of which is 6m x 2m x 2.2m(h) with 1,000 watts (110V) of electricity power supply for each team. The standard shell scheme basic facilities are provided.

Proposed component/event judged on its conceptual plans and the relevance of proposal.

Marketing Strategy:

Students assessed persuasiveness and feasibility of the marketing plan for proposed idea.

(20%)

Business Viability:

Proposal assessed on commercial relevance and business viability.

(15%)

Creativity:

The proposal assessed on creativity and feasibility of the plan.

(10%)

Engagement & Communication:

Team will be assessed on the quality of stage presence (i.e. eye contact, vocal range) and the interest appeal to each individual (i.e. judges)

Description

English Presentation Award

1st place team is awarded 50,000 NTD ,a trophy, and 1 year complimentary PATA Young Tourism Professional (YTP) Student Membership(maximum 6 persons/team).

2nd Place team is awarded 30,000 NTD and a certificate.

3rd place is awarded 20,000 NTD and a certificate.

Merit award is awarded 10,000 NTD and a certificate.

Exhibition Marketing Award

Star of MICE Award

1 international team winner. 

The Star of MICE Award is Judged by visitors and participating

teams. The participating teams may not score themselves. The

team with highest scores is awarded 5,000 NTD and a

 *Each member from the winning team will receive one-year complimentary PATA Young Tourism Professional (YTP) Student Membership. YTP membership empowers them for their future career development by getting them EXPOSED, CONNECTED and INVOLVED with industry leaders. Opportunities like sponsorships, workshops, and internships are available to inspire the next generation of leaders.

 *the award ceremony is on the last day of competition.


Subsidy:

Decoration Fee Subsidy:

    1. Every team is subsidized with a maximum of 12,000 NTD

    2. The schools should provide us with the related billing list, invoice, photos and recipient account information within 10 days after the exhibition ends. (the Tax ID 03702716 should be on the invoices) 

Air ticket subsidy:

  1. Maximum of 1,600 USD for Asian-Pacific teams
  2. Maximum of 5,000 USD for European or American teams

 

Accommodation Subsidy:

Based on the appointed location, with a maximum amount of 7 person’s stay.

 

Note

  1. The participants should agree that all data/ media records received from participants are free for TAITRA to use, copy, modify, or display in public for publication or educational purposes.
  2. All participating teams MUST attend the exchange activities held by TAITRA.
  3. Winners of the award should abide by the tax regulations and TAITRA policy to receive the prize. According to tax laws and regulations of ROC, the tax on prize won by foreign country residents of foreign countriesis 20%.
  4. Participants should make sure that they own the copyrights to all the images, music, or any form of media they use. Participating teams should acknowledge that all the work or outcome during the contest must be legitimate. TAITRA is not held responsible if there is violation of the lawful rights of third parties.
  5. If any participating team is reported with the possibility of legal dispute, TAITRA has the right to cancel the qualification/ forbid the participating teams to join the contest/ retrieve all subsidy for the participating team.
  6. TAITRA has the right to use all work and outcome of the contest for any form of publication, including but not limited to publications, Video, livestreams, webcasts, or photos.
  7. For any other commercial purpose, TAITRA will sign related authorization documents separately.

 

*TAITRA retains the right to amend this form solely at our own discretion.
