Rules of MICE Destination Marketing Contest

The 2019 MICE Destination Marketing Contest provides a unique opportunity for younger generations worldwide to practice and exercise innovative ideas to the MICE industry. Hosted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs Bureau of Foreign Trade, Taiwan and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (also known as TAITRA), the MICE Destination Marketing Contest combines both Marketing Presentation and Booth Marketing competition. The students are encouraged to use their MICE industry knowledge, skills and creativity to market their cities.

B.    Objective Settings

This Objective Settings is a simplified version base on SITE Global Conference 2022 RFP, inspired by the actual RFP. The Objective is only for competition purpose, it will not be actualized by the host organization or SITE.

a.Theme: Bidding for Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) Global Conference 2022
b.Delegates: 300+ professionals from more than 40 countries
c.Date: Ideal timeframe is October or November. Proposed dates must avoid major religious observances, global holidays and significant industry events.
d.General Space Requirement:

  1. SITE OfficeSITE International Board of Directors Meeting – U Shaped set for sixteen people
  2. Chapter Leader Meeting – Crescent rounds for fifty participants
  3. Ballroom – Staging, crescent rounds six hundred participants in the general session, meeting of members
  4. Education – One (1) technology room, up to six (6) concurrent education rooms (classroom or crescent to fit all participants), 1 speaker/VIP room (informal/couches)
  5. Ballroom (at hotel or near property) – Crystal Award lunch, SITE Global Conference 2022 Celebration lunch
  6. Cultural Immersions – the delegates should be broken up into at least 3 groups where they will get education, discussions, brainstorming as well as experience different types of local cultures. This section will be rated highly.

C.   Marketing and Planning proposal

  1. Each team should make a proposal according to the Objective Settings. Within 2 A4 pages and written in English.
  2. The bidding proposal should be emailed to yin@taitra.org.tw before August 15th.
  3. The result of the Marketing and Planning proposal will not influence the English Marketing Presentation Contest and      Exhibition Marketing Contest.
  4. The result of the competition will not resemble the actual SITE Global Conference, and will not be really implemented.

D.   English Marketing Presentation Contest

  1. All the presenter should wear business formal or school uniforms.
  2. Presentation for MICE Destination Marketing is 5 minutes and followed by a Q & A session. The answer time is limited within 2 minutes. Judges' time during asking questions will not be counted.
  3. The timer will start once you make the first sound.
  4. The staff will show the “1 Minute Left” sign and ring the bell when there is only 1-minute left.
  5. When the time is up, the staff will show the “Time’s up” sign and ring the bell twice. Please stop the presentation accordingly.
  6. Over 5 min 10 sec will result in a score deduction.
  7. There is no minimum time of the presentation.

E.    Exhibition Marketing Contest

  1. Exhibitors should display their college name on their fascia board at their booth areas.
  2. The dimension of the booth is 6m x 2m x 2.5m(h)(with logo). Oversize or occupy public area will result in a score deduction, and will be asked to dismantle. Any cause of the extra fee should be paid by the team.
  3. Exhibitors should always wear exhibitor badges and keep their booths staffed during show hours. And should be ready to answers questions from visitors and judges.
  4. The exhibited goods, décor materials, and waste should be taken down and moved out from Rm 201 before 21th Sept. 17:00. Violation of cleaning regulations will be disqualified. And any cause of the extra fee should be paid by the team.
